After several drinks and kind offers, Mehdi lets Xavier take over. His fingers ache with that familiar soreness after yet another brilliant set, and he's in desperate need of a drink. It's not long until he's surrounded by various minor mixers and female fans. A majority of these girls look below legal, he notices, but he's too tired to care. There's an empty couch beside the raving bar and just as he turns to sit, the jailbait that had followed him earlier on take his seat. Two of them; one with an auburn pixie cut and hooker boots, while the other is somewhat prettier, with her platinum blond bob and knee-high dress. They make comments on his talent and other things he's at the moment currently careless of, but he returns a weary thank you and forced smile. The blond one edges over and pats an empty space for him to sit between them. He's trapped. A sigh exerts his lips, and for a moment he actually wishes to go back to his set. He falls back on the tight couch, eyes lidded with exhaustion.

An hour passes and the girls are still complimenting him. He hasn't caught each and every word, however, since he's on his fifth drink. He needs it to stays as kind as he is with them, despite keeping quiet the entire time. Their French is terrible so he knows they're not native. It's a cute attempt nonetheless. He knows enough English to continue any mindless chatter but he's in no mood. The entire time he simply responds with “Yes” or “Thank you”. Mehdi can hardly hear their tiny voices with the pounding bass, the house beat thundering in his ears. Together along with the sounds of the crowd, the noise is unbearable. His vision blurred and voice slurred, he's considering switching places with Xavier again as an excuse to get away. At this point he just wants to get drunk out of his mind, and he's only half way there. He feels a sudden tug at his belt, but he doesn't pay much attention to it, thinking it's just some other grabby fan. The sound of his name makes him reconsider, and when his eyes trail upward to where the crooked finger lead, he's almost relieved to realize it's Pedro. He's also visibly drained, having already removed his favorite So Me t-shirt, thin physique soaking in sweat. The fact that he towers over most makes people assume he's fit, but in reality he's as frail as he is enormous. He's grinning in an almost knowing manner, as if he's pleased with himself. He gives another tug at the belt until Mehdi actually jerks up and bucks against him. The girls begin to whisper among themselves and he can overhear their excited giggling. Of course if they knew him, they'd be even more ecstatic over Pedro.

He's not used to someone like her. All of his friends and acquaintances are loud and obnoxious like Kavinsky or dark and mysterious like Sebastian. She's a little shy, but rather open and lighthearted.

Her accent and soft-spokeness are what attracts him to her at first. He's had to learn to speak English to both Americans and Brits alike, but her voice has an odd ring to it that is somewhere slightly in between. It can be hard to tell what she is saying, so he listens closely to everything she has to say.

Everything about her fascinates him. For once, he's openly grateful for his "ability to friend anyone." She seems like the type who keeps to herself.

He's used to the girls finding him attractive and falling all over him as though they've forgotten how to keep their clothes on, but unlike Xavier he doesn't mind nearly as much. But he honestly prefers the ones who can keep it together and understand that there is a line to be crossed no matter how thin it may appear.

So when he finds that he actually is falling for her, it's hard to think of what to do next. He wouldn't have to try too hard. But to do such a thing to such a sweet girl and leave her on the wayside seemed far too harsh.

But an actual relationship seems too far gone for "a party animal" like him and it doesn't even cross his mind until he gets her alone in an out of the way cafe.

Because when he mentions, "Je t'aime" rather casually during the middle of a French rant she doesn't understand at all, her face turns a shade of red he couldn't imagine skin could even become unless someone was sunburned.

And when she stammers something about not understanding whet he said and misinterpretations and lost in translation, he's too busy watching the emotion in her face and the way her lips catch on her teeth when she talks too fast to even remotely hear anything she says except for, "Could you repeat that?"

And when he whispers it back once more so that it's barely audible, she squirms in her seat as though he had just announced to the world what color her underwear was.

"What does that mean, because uhh..." She trails off and starts to mess with her hair.

He knits his brows in concentration momentarily. "I do not think aimer means the same in anglais as it does francais."

And when she breathes a sigh of relief at the same moment that her face falls and she looks away in a subtle indication of despair, he suddenly knows why he's never tried to make a move or rejected her after all this time.

"Je t'adore is much more specific." And amidst her surprise and embarrassed ramblings, he finds himself staring at her beautiful face and lips once more. And he wonders when her face will lose that blush so he can look at her beautiful skin and her talking will cease so he can kiss her beautiful lips.
