well if you don't mind me ruining the whole fic for you and everyone else who reads this: it's kinda of a princess bride ending in that nothing's ever perfect and gabe always has to live with the sadness of knowing he's not pete's true love even though pete's with him and the guilt of knowing that he selfishly took pete away from his true love and for the rest of their lives every time pete's angsty (which is a lot, he's pete wentz) gabe has to blame himself at least in part. pete doesn't remember anything that happened, as far as he's concerned they've always been like this and he's never met ashlee. gabe keeps trying to find excuses for them to meet so he can kind of give pete a fair chance at choosing, but the magic interferes with pete every meeting her; something always comes up.

so that last's line's only understated because if i wrote more you couldn't pretend it was a happy end if you squint. GREY AREAS.
