I don't generally see guys as having nails that can be described as "claws"... Besides, writing someone's nails in such a manner lends to sort of... I don't know, a more violent, "let me go or I'll hurt you" sort of situation. You can have someone claw AT you, and their nails can be claw-LIKE, but the way you worded it made it sound as though Sonny is sporting animal traits out of the blue.
