Joel falls on stage and breaks his arm/leg. This activates the mother hen mode on Sonny. He insists on taking care of Joel and lots of unnecessary nursing and fussing occur.
Plus if Joel says he doesn't need all the help but secretly enjoys the attention, plus plus if Sonny totally knows this.
